I just purchased a 1958 Johnson 35 Hp model # RDS-20
I had a SEA KING model #GG18744B

After the swap I somehow forgot where all the wires go,
(note to self , "No beers til the job is done")

Well here it is all hooked up and I have a black wire and a tanish color wire to go, I know one or both go to the cut out switch?

I hooked the battery cable to the starter, ground to the chassis, red to the elec choke, 1 black lead went to the points under the flywheel that left 1 more black wire and a tanish wire? Do both wires go to the Cut-out. that would leave a total of 3 wires on that middle post of the cut-out switch.....

Thanks in advace........

Ok I was right both wire do go to the cut out, but witch one goes where, does the black go to the center and the tan to side/mount screw? or vise versa? the motor runs either way?

Re: where does this wire go??

The black from the key switch goes to the center terminal of the cut-out switch. Another black wire goes from that same center terminal to the points under the flywheel.

The other wire goes to one corner of the vacuum cut-out switch. It used to be white and the diagrams will show it as white. The white wire comes from one of the dual mercury switches on the throttle gears on the '58 models. The mercury switch ensures that the vacuum cut-out switch is operable only at slow throttle settings. For anybody else reading this, the mercury switch was replaced by a micro-switch and the wires were modified accordingly on newer models.
