where is my alternator?

i have no idea where to find my alternator on a 1969 100hp merc1000? i don't even know what it looks like or what to look for if it was working or non working. thanks for any advice.

It's just a few coils on the stator under the flywheel. You can't see it without removing the flywheel.

Yes, with teeth around it.
