Hi, I have a 1988 force 50 hp and I am not sure where my anode is located. My problem is that I use a protroll black box for trolling(fishing) and my MV readings are low, which is better then high(I don't have any voltage leak). However I am told to replace or clean anode if reading is low, my is about .150 and need my reading to be at about .600. My exhaust snout looks like it could be a zinc but when I look up the part it is not referred to as a anode or zinc so I am not sure. Anyone know the answer??

If your stock exhaust snout is unpainted then chances are pretty good that it is an anode.

If it is painted, it is definitely not an anode and the engine never had one. You can add a zinc on the cavitation plate or even put one inside the lower unit just in front of the snout

I think you are right Frank, I removed the exhaust snout and on the underside it has a spot that is starting to pit/corrode, this must be the zinc/anode. Also the exhaust snout is NOT painted, all other parts are factory painted. Thanks.
