Where is my thermostat ?

As I was replacing the impeller and the thermostat on my motor - Force 75 HP - 1998 - I found the thermostat housing empty and it looks like it is from day one - no thermostat in it. I went to the Merc. dealer and the guy said as per the serial number of my motor there should be one in it - have you seen something like this before ?<br /><br />Thanks<br /><br />Smoky

Did you buy the motor new?

Well OB,<br /><br />I bought the boat used last year and the motor on it was installed in june 1999 and it didn't run very much between 99 and 2002.

I'm guessing the original owner removed it.

Definately.Put one in .This enables your engine to run at the designed temp and also provides quicker warm-up.
