I have a 5.7L Mercruiser from early 90's. I am not getting a reading on my oil pressure sensor and I never have since buying the boat a few years ago. I have searched and read some threads here on troubleshooting and I get it, but I can't find the sender on the engine. Can anyone explain to me where to look for the oil pressure sender?

Thx.

should be just under your exhaust manifold. It goes in the oil galley. looks like the temp sender

Thx. I'll check it out.

Can I test the gauge response like I did the temp gauge... by grounding the lead and seeing if the gauge pegs? I don't want to replace things willy-nilly unless I have reason to believe they are not working.

I did just order a temp sender as I was able to ground and peg the gauge AND the sender, when removed, looked beat. I hope that solves it. I guess I could have run the ohm meter on the sender but I really don't know how to do that or what to expect if "good" or "bad". $21 is a reasonable price for one I know is working anyhow.

The sender works the same as the temp sending unit.
