Where is shift conntrol connector

I have a general repair manual but the instructions for the disconnection for the shift control connector don't match the picture. I am trying to drop the lower unit- the water pump isn't working. Does anybody have a better shot of this part of the operations? Evinrude 1989 225 V6 VRO model E225TXCC6.

The shift rod is released by removing a slotted screw from the port side, centered beneath the carburetors. If you look under the lower engine cover, you can see the shift rod entering the engine compartment.

The whole operation, especially putting the lower unit back, will go easier for you if you remove the lower engine cover which is split from front to back; you would need to pull the four clips from inside the cover, and six screws from the starboard side. .
