My boat is a 1989 Starcraft Islander 191 V w/ a 3.0l Mercruiser Alpha 1. When I got done fishing last night I noticed a light oil spray on top of my flame arrestor cover and on my port side stringer. I should note this side does have a small freeze crack from previous owner (2 marine mechanichs have noted it has rusted itself shut) with just a slight water leak. The motor itself runs great. Question is where could this oil be coming from??? This is my first IO. This can't be normal can it?? It is in for complete fluid changes this week, and a once over before salmon season; what do you all think I'm in for???

Could it be blow by from the crankcase ventillation that connects to the side of the flame arrestor?

Don't know, is "blow by" a normal thing? I'm not hard on my motor. Mainly trolling, when up and running I try to keep her at about 3200-3500 rpm (4200 rpm is wot). My whole fluid change is not due to seeing this, I've hit my 100 hours.
