Where is the Timer? Livewell Issue

I have a 3 position (Continious, Off, Auto) switch, my question is where is the timer for the Auto mode, is it seperately located somewhere or is in built into the aerator? I ask the question because mine will not turn off regardless of position, and I have ruled out the switch as I have swapped it out with a working one.
