Where is Thermostat?

I have a 1985 25hp Merc outboard. I replaced the water pump, but water coming out of peehole is still very very hot and does not have very good psi. I want to check the thermostat but my engine manual doesn't show where it is. Can someone tell me exactly where it is located? Does the thermostat have anyting to do with the water pressure coming out?

Also, while pulling off the discharge hose from the cowling (to see if it was clogged), the small hose bib / fitting (or whatever you call it) that attaches to the cowling fell off and sunk in the water. Can anyone tell me the name of this fitting and where to get a replacement?
