Guys:

First, a little background information...

I have a 1988 Sea Ray Laguna 24' center console. She has a 118 gallon aluminum fuel tank mounted in a hold underneath a hatch. It is partially under the console, but the majority of the fuel tank and hatch is behind the console. The tank is not foamed in. There are a couple of accesses cut into an aft bulkhead, through which you can operate the shut off valves and see the top of the tank.

Now, in the console, there is a head. There is a panel that you can remove and see the entire front of the fuel tank, as well as service the fill and vent hoses. I have been noticing some water on the floor of the head. I removed the cover panel, and low and behold, there is about three inches of water that the foreward part of the tank is sitting in. Apparently, there was a small opening in the caulk that seals the panel, and the water is getting on to the floor from there. Now, how do I get this water away from the fuel tank? It doesn't appear to drain out. It lays on the forward section, and then when the boat gets up on plane, it runs to the aft section. I am thinking that there may be a drain hole plugged up somewhere. Can I cut a new one somewhere?

Also, the reason that the water is laying towards the forward section is because I removed twin outboards and repowered with a considerably lighter single, so the stern of the boat rides higher. There is about six inches of water in the foreward section of the bilge. This can't hurt the stringers, can it? The bilge is always bailed completely when I am running the boat and she is up on plane and the water runs to the stern. I am considering cutting an access hatch somewhere and installing a secondary, forward bilge pump with its own float switch.

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance,
RR
