Hi Guys,

Again, ya'll are a true wealth of knowledge..gentlemen and scollars , all

I have a 1984 70 hp evinrude that I want to replace the buzzer alram with
a guage with an alarm. Question, can i place the new sending unit in the
same hole that the sending unit for the buzzer is in now.... and since the
temp sending unit does not come in contact with the water,,, would it be safe to say that the water temp (that is screwed into the water jacket)
would be reading a little less than a cylinder head temp guage...
in your opinions what would be a better guage, (small dashborad on boat,)
a water temp guage or a cylinder head temp guage....???

thanks

I would not replace the horn alarm, it is your fail-safe, and the OMC temperature switch is one of the few parts that almost never fails.

Add a temperature gauge kit using the surface mounted Z bracket and you will have the early-warning system as well. If you really want the best, add a water pressure gauge, too.
