So I have the lower unit off the motor, stuck a garden hose Tightly around the water pump intake pipe (or "up pipe" or whatever we are supposed to call it lol, I can't find much about it), and I turn the water on full blast. Where should the water come out?
-The pee hole - yup sure is
-The exhaust port (which when the motor is slightly trimmed up, it is the furthest cavity back - yup there too
-How about straight back down the cavity the hose is in (which is basically both the water pump as well as the drive shaft)? Yeah -That's where 2/3 of the water is coming out. Should this do this? OR should ALL of the water being sent "up" the pipe go through the block and out the exhaust?
So the question is... the water is flowing through the block, the cold water from the hose made condensation, so it's "cooling" the heads. I recently changed both thermostats and the water pump, so things should be good. Water seems to flow fine, but the engine is too hot to touch after running even a short while. Power seems fine and it doesn't seem to be suffering, but it's definitely enough to get me worried.
Thanks for your help!
