To be clear I have a separate battery to start the engine so I want to add a 3rd battery.

In the last bit here I have added a Motorguide W55 trolling motor and a Minn Kota deckhand and I night fish so I am running lights all night(LED)and pull alot of power.

I want to add a second battery to power the boat, does it matter where I add this to the system?

My main battery now is in the tip of the bow and I want to put the other one more towards the middle of the boat and tie in there, can that cause a problem or no, I put it up front too and am way bow heavy.

I personally think it doesn't matters where you put but want to check, me and electricity aren't always buddies.

Physically you can add it anywhere you want. You just have to be mindful of the wire length and size for the attached load. What do you envision being hooked to the new battery? The other consideration is how the battery will be charged. If you want it to charge when the motor is running you can put a batter isolator in. The isolator allows the battery to be hooked into the motor charging system but won't let you drain the starting battery for the main motor. The best ones are the new solid state ones.

edit: Or you can install an on-board battery charger that plugs into house current.
