I want to get a reman Quadra jet for my 5.7L 350 chevy, in a Albemarle. Four companies have what I need, have any of you dealt with; National Carburetor, Flying Fish, Carbs and More, I-5. The price is highest at Flying Fish the others are around $270. Would any of you recommend any of these? Thanks.

From my one experience with I-5, would not recommend to others. Carb came with wrong jets/rods than agreed upon. No experience with the others. I ended up going with new Edelbrock 1409.

I bought a Q-jet from National Carburetors for my 1987 5.7L a little over a year ago with the electric choke conversion. The factory settings were perfect and it's been running fine for over a year now.

I used National last year to rebuild my Rochester 2 barrel. They did a great job.

The Q-jet that I bought from Fly Fishing had to be returned 3 times until I finally got my money back and went with one on Craigslist.

Why not just go with an Edelbrock 1409? Better carb in my opinion

What you need to find is a automotive shop that works on classic cars and does hi performance work. Who you need to find is a mechanic over 50 years old who cut his teeth on carbs to rebuild your original carb. If you were up in this neck of the woods I would gladly rebuild your carb and it would be guaranteed to work , but since you are half a contenent away all I can do is offer advice.

Thanks for your comments guys. I did go to a local race car builder and he rebuilt it, but still won't run under a load. Most guys agree reman are junk, so I bit the bullet and ordered a new Edelbrock 1409 from Summit. There's an adapter plate for Q-Jet to Edelbrock so I got that also. I hope my Morse linkage isn't too much of a pita. New fuel pump, new module, new spark plug wires and plugs, new coil, clean fuel, rebuilt engine and still it won't run under aload. It justs quits. I've gone thru Don"s 15 problem causes and still no luck. I hope the new Edelbrock will solve it.
