Where to buy carpet? Best quality/Prices?

OK, OK, before anyone starts, I know that carpet is evil and the last thing that anyone wants to put in the boat. But I am wanting to install it none the less (wife's orders). I have completed the floor replacement and I think that just short of sinking it on the bottom of the lake, the floor is pretty much waterproof with the amounts of resin and glass I put down.

What I am looking for is the best source for carpet. After my limited looking around, Cabelas seems to be the most reasonable. But I am willing to take my business to whoever has the best price/quality. Any input would be great!

Thanks!

You can check under boat parts in eBay motors, also just a Google search of "marine carpet" may help out (although I am sure you have already done that).

have you explained to the little lady, that carpet in the boat is just like that little rugs, she puts around the toilet, that you pee on every night. explain it that way and she might change her mind. especially if using the boat for water sports, and fishing.

I got mine at Lowe's. They had a nice selection of marine carpet at a good price.

Do what I did when my wife insisted on carpet. I told her that she would need to give up her space in the garage when the boat was on the trailer instead of the boathouse (That's like 90% of the time). It backfired on me though. She now parks outside and the boat is in the garage with carpet. :(

Check out Overtons.com. They will send you sample cards with the different colors for free. I ordered each one to compare the weights.

lol, explain to the wife about carpet. yea right. nice thought though. I think that I will but from either overtons or cabelas. The nearest Lowes is about 300 miles from here. Thanks for the input, and pics will be coming soon!

Take notice, i purchased some indoor/outdoor carpet there that cost 800 marine style with rubber backing, at lowes same damm carpet without backing was 275. Now i an a firm believer in marine applications, but only when forced............:D I havnt installed the stuff yet, but it look's so good im afraid mrs.TG wont allow fishing in the boat.......this might be a war, but very short..

Check this site out: http://www.capricarpet.com/boat_carpet.htm . The Ship-N-Shore carpet is very good quality and reasonably priced. I put this carpet in my 1970 Thunderbird restoration and have never regretted it. It has held up to traffic, water and fish blood very well. Have them send you a sample and compare it to Cabelas or other carpet. I would buy it again without hesitation, but my new Thunderbird (1967) will be sans carpet. Somehow my wife thought this was a good idea!? Lucky break...

I would think that any local carpet outlet would stock a good selection of indoor/outdoor/marine carpet? I have always gone to one near me for both auto and boat carpet, they keep it on huge rolls and sell it by the yard.
