Where to buy NEW GM engine

Looking at replacing my engine. Already decided to go with NEW longblock. I am well aware of the price. I have seen lots of post for companies to rebuild. Found lots of people on internet that sell the blocks but thought I would see if I could get some recommendations from here. Anyone have suggestion on where to buy New OEM GM marine longblock (5.7 Vortec)?

be sure to look at fuel pump options, some have provisions for mechanical, some electric only...

MichiganMotorz is a good reputable company. They can supply the GM based marine engine in the Vortec or non-Vortec version.
They are also willing to do a quench built chamber design for the asking.
Cost is a few dollars more, but this takes better advantage of the Vortec wedge shape. (the OEM pistons do not take full advantage)
All else can remain the same.

If your local dealer doesn't buy lots of engines from GM its a good way to pay too much!
I worked for a GM dealership where we did buy a lot. So much that other dealers could get them from us cheaper than GM and we still made money.

See what i already stated.
Also... last time i looked GM now separates their marine division... if you want a true marine 5.7 you will have to go through a marine dealer. A local Auto dealer will either tell you they cant get one or try to sell you a truck motor, which of course is almost the same but not what the o/p asked for. A GM marine vortec should be 295 hp i think.

Ayuh,.... It Helps to know yer "Parts Guy"....
'n havin' the attitude that dealers are willin' to deal....
With internet pricin' readily available, You can be in the driver's seat....

Btw,... The pickup motors now come with brass core plugs, 'n composite head gaskets....
Biggest difference 'tween the pickup, 'n Marine motors is the wordin' of the warranty.....

When I was a GM employee I could pick these crate engines up dirt cheap with my employee discount. Wish I still had it.

Just an FYI: I caleld my GM parts guy (local car dealer) and he told me, "As long as you can get me the part number I can order anything GM makes". Put that in the "for what its worth" department.

Likewise, I was always able to get any engine.

Well guys, i looked through my old stuff from a couple years ago when i helped a friend do this...

Here is the part number 620-57320V, its a new not reman, 98-2002, 295 hp, vortec, marine, long block. It was at the friends insistence, for the sake of time/good quality, that he use OEM crate. I would have taken the time to assembled my own.

If you check with your local GM auto dealer parts guy he will likely tell you that number is no good! He will also say that his system has no Marine engines in it and it must be the same as a truck engine... Which is not far from the truth! Some are very close!

If you call a large large GM engine dealer like Scoggin Dicky, probably the largest in the country, They will politely tell you that they have access to some assembled "Marine" heads but do not to sell the marine long blocks and will encourage you to call a "marine" dealer. If you don't believe me try, if you say you can than call and report a price & post the part number and dealer name!! I'm sure the o/p would appreciate it.

So did you guys ever come up with a part number and a price, for the O/P, to buy a new GM "marine" crate engine from a local GM goodwrench parts dealer??? :facepalm:

I am not a GM employee anymore so I don't have access anymore. This was 15 years ago and I was able to purchase a marine engine at 40% off of list.

Have your mechanic call. They're dealer/shop only. My 3.0LX is only $1800 vs $1950+ at any other outlet.
