I have a 1985 Evinrude 25hp and it was recommended to me to rebuild the carb. Where can I pick up a good repair manual? Is those Selco's good? Where can I get a good rebuild kit??

Thanks,
Duke

Hey Duke, if you get a service manual, get the OEM manual. It'll have specific info on your engine. Search for Ken Cook Co., marine.com or the outboardwizard....all sell reprints of the original service and parts manual.

You can get carb kits from any John/Rude dealer or get the after market kits from right here at iboats or any NAPA dealer.

Unfortunately, 1983 was one of the years they stuck all the manuals in one book making a reprint really expensive. You may be stuck with an aftermarket manual.
Bell that rung.

Re: Where to buy OEM repair manuals

I bought a Clymer for my 100hp and it's not the greatest. The Clymers cover too many engines in one book so that means some info is missing. You need to be able to read between the lines.
I already ran into a problem because the info in the Clymer didn't make sense. Found a guy with an OEM manual and it was very clear.
Needless to say, I'm ordering an OEM.
From a backyard mech to another, get the OEM if it's available.
