Just last year I purchased a 2010 Lund A-14 utility-v bottom row boat and went with a 15 HP four stroke Mercury outboard,...which I am now regretting going with a four stroke,...they just DON'T have the torque that a two stroke has. Also,...the cost of maintaining a four stroke is much more than a two stroke when it comes to oil and filter changes, timing belt changes, etc. based on what I have read in comparison tests and articles. Having said all that,I have discovered that deep down in my heart,I am an Evinrude/Johnson man,...NOT a Mercury guy,...Mercs and I don't get along very well for some weird reason. Now,...this is NOT a want ad,,...only an inquiry to find out where the best place would be to go and find a 1990 or newer 15 HP
Evinrude or Johnson short shaft motor,so I can dump this four stroke somewhere. Add to the fact that four strokes are heavier than two strokes,...and you have no timing belts or oil/filter changes to worry about on two strokes like you do on a four stroke motor. Plus,...I miss the smell of two stroke exhaust on a cool morning,...or on any morning of fishing for that matter.
