Hi there,
I have a boat from 1990 all-fiberglass hull open-bow with a 2-stroke engine. The oil reservoir is located underneath the rear seat of the boat. Over the course of the boats lifespan / multiple owners, neglect, whatever, the base of the seat has deteriorated.
In addition, one of the seats has a built in cooler but again, over the years, this plastic lining has yellowed.
Most of the wood in the boat seems to need replacing due to age, but in particular the areas I am referring to. The wood is literally flaking off itself where the oil reservoir is for instance.
Because of the oil, and the yellow plastic lining, I?d like to replace the wooden bases with plastic bases, ideally with a stop plug that way I can use the one as a cooler. If a plastic base cannot be found then at least a wooden base with a plastic lining for the oil reservoir.
I am having trouble finding this exact thing. I don?t want to replace the seats themselves mind you, I plan on re-upholstering them and I don?t think it?s a necessary expense to buy all new seats. I just want the bases.
If I must, I?ll just buy marine wood and seal them and rebuild the seats as they were with the wood. I just think the plastic would make for a longer lasting, and I assume cheaper, solution.
Anyone know where I can find what I'm looking for?
