Hi I have a 1957 3 hp Evinrude Lightwin 3022 . Have been looking for a ring set (std) for about 5 hours but no luck. Pistons and bore are in great condition. Only tore it down to replace the crank because of worn spline. Has always been a one crank start. Any help would be apprecated. My Grandchildren will thank you.

Couldn't find any rings, but if really desperite you can buy the piston and rings for 90$? If you go to marine engine . com, and you look up your model (57' Evinrude") choose the hp, 3hp, and the model and I believe it is number 53 on the chart, part #

BRP has no stock currently on the 432739. The dealer-only BRP website lists many U.S. dealers that still have new stock on the part number 432739. This dealer has 10+ pcs in stock: You can contact them, give them your credit card and they will ship direct to you.

432739 is part number for a piston with rings. 378412 is the number for just a rings set.

Let's back up a second. Any BRP dealer has internal access to Bombardier's dealer stock software. Call them and have them inquire any part number and they can tell you if any dealers still have new stock on any part number. For instance, this dealer has 10 pcs of your ringset:

WOW, you can get ring sets for a 1957 3hp.

I think your supposed to hone all the cylinders with a straight stone hone, not the hone with the little balls, they get caught in the ports,so the rings will seat, youtube explains it well.

Yes they made many of those 3 hp motors and for many years.---------If you study the parts books you will see that the parts for some old models are easier to get than some much newer motors !

Thanks again for all the leads, I ordered 2 sets from 2 different places. Yes there are many parts for these engines, but not many rings. At least that was my findings. After calling 3 different dealers with no success i gave up on that route. Emd, thanks for that link, it is now in my Favs. I already ordered these before i saw that. Tom, i find that most two cycles should use a straight hone / glaze breaker because of those ports. Something i do is on those blocks that you cant pass the piston straight through is to make a couple of stops. On small bores i just cut a couple of circles out of aluminum flashing and slide down the bore. That way when you are doing your cross hatch you don't hit those protudings and shatter your stones. Easy Peasy.

Thanks again guys, now ill be able to do my assembly when the snow clears and my parts make it to me. :)
