Where to find second HIN?

I just bought 89 Bayliner 16' for 150 doll (no carbs and starter) and want to check HIN inside boat. Title is OK. Seller bought it from auction 2 month ago. Called car salvage inspectors, they don't check boats. Thanks.

Sorry but 99.9% of the time it is on the transom or coast guard data plate. No hidden spots.

I thought with the new HIN requirements, that has a second one hidden on the boat somewhere

New Yarcrafts have hidden vin plates identical to the stamped vin plate on the rear, usually inside and visible with some little hatch in the rear open. Not sure when they started doing that.

Dunno if its required or not or who else did it and starting when.

it is required under the new hin laws that they came out with in the early 80s
