Where to fish near Wrightsvile beach NC

The wife and I will be staying on the inter coastal waterway oct 14 for several days. This place is several miles from the nearest pier . Is it worth it to try and fish from the shore in the water way or better to just try the pier (johnny mercer pier ). Going out on a boat isnt an option on this trip..Any ideas on what to fish for? thanks

You can contact the pier for info on whats bitting and surf fishing should be good around that time also. Drum,Blues,Flounder and other fish should be there. may be good fishing in the ICW also. If you've got 4wd there are beaches you can drive on and surf fish at Carolina beach and Fort Fisher SRA. good luck

I found out that there is no free parking even for people paying to fish at the pier in wrightsville and the pier at topsail is no further away so it will be topsail for sure.Cant wait to at least suck down some ice cold raw ersters even if I dont catch any fish.

Ive been to the Jolly Roger and always had a good time there. The folks are friendly at the pier and at the local bar a few blocks west if its still there, Nice place to visit.
