I have water in the engine oil (milkshake) and trying to perform a leakdown test to determine the issue. I have a 2003 3.0 GLP-B volvo penta engine and SX-M drive.

When I perform the leakdown test to TDC the cylinder moves and does not provide an accurate reading. Is there a way to lock down or hold down the crankshaft when performing the leakdown test? The crankshaft is where you'll usually will hold it so the cylinders don't move. In this case, it appears the impeller is in front of the crankshaft.

Thanks.

you say the "cylinder" moves. may i say it is u not holding the crankshaft still with a simple socket and pullbar or ratchet.with water being inside the engine its a moot point.u have an internal crack, probably in a cyl wall.not to dismiss a cracked head.

You have to get the Piston (not cylinder) at exactly top dead center. Then the piston will not move and you do not have to hold it.

You might want to pull the lifter covers off the side of the engine and look for a cracked block. That is where the water usually comes from.
