where to junk my boat

Alright, UNCLE!

I have been working hard on my project, but it caused alot of grief :facepalm:. I need to junk the hull and get it out of drive way. Can anyone tell me where in Dallas I can take it?

I have appreciated all the help everyone has given me these past months during the project. You are all awesome!

I have no choice or get divorced. My wife didn't realize when I told her this was going to be a long road to fixing this boat we purchased.

She thought it would be ready for the water right now, however, the tear out has taken sometime and she is tired of doing everything around the house without my help.

Honestly if I could find someplace where I can store and work on the boat and not at the house, that would be a great alternative. However, it would have to be inexpensive as well.

I guess you have to just make the decision of which one do you like more, the boat or the old lady?
I went through that 20 years ago, I kept the boat and traded in the old lady for one that didn't nag about my boats.
It was a win, win situation all around, the replacement loved boating, was younger, and even had a truck and knew how to launch and load a boat.
The way I looked at it was that the boat would only get better the longer I spent on it, that was not likely the case with the old lady back then. I kept and fixed up the boat and eventually moved on to something better, the new owner still keeps it looking like new, I can't say that for my ex old lady, the past 20 years just haven't been as forgiving in her case.

If you must dump the boat, just put an ad on Craigslist for a free boat, its yet to fail me yet when I need to get rid of a junk hull.
Most local landfills will also take a boat although some require it be cut up to some degree.

Most landfills will take it, If it is no longer hull, just a pile of fiberglass and wood....break out the sawzall and load it into the truck

i junked one and it was 57 a ton in florida but they would not help to unload the boat from the trailer so i had to get a friend to drive in with me and play tug of war to get it off the trailer then they complained it was not on the pile o.0 but i payed my $30 and they were out playing in when i left so it might be scrapped then again it might get a new life. craigs list if it has any parts like steering but be careful to get a signed paper saying they took it or they might strip the parts they need and dump it on the side of the road while you still have the title
my wife said that the boat im working on is the last one im allowed to do.....i agreed with her......she never said anything about mud trucks, restoring or hot rodding so i will keep her around a little longer.........

I keep my project boat at a local storage yard (RVs & boats) for $148/mo. They are one of the few around that let you work on your boat. Hope you can find something like that.

if you have the title. My nearest Transfer Station took my junk boat... it cost me 75 bucks and it was waterlogged. so google dallas transfer station

Tell her if the boat goes you will end up spending all your time at bars chasing women.

Renovating is a hobby, it usually doesn't have instant rewards. You need to get a splash ready boat and enjoy the water as you fix this one. Get something small so she will want the bigger boat.

I had an ex that used to complain about all the bikini clad women on the water all over the place. She nagged and nagged for me to get rid of the boat and find another hobby, then finally said it was her or the boat. I came home that day with another boat and a new set of locks for the house. Best move I ever made. It turned out her younger sister loved boating and didn't nag me about anything. She looked better in a bikini too.
25 years later after seeing what time did to sister number one, I definitely made the right choice. (I would have definitely needed a bigger boat if I hadn't of traded the first one in for her younger sister).
Of course, I traded #2 in about 10 years ago, she just didn't get along with #3. I still have my boat though, and my bike, and my truck, and anything else I want.

The landfill here takes boats whole, so long as the fuel tanks are out and there's no motor. They'll even help unload. The last I checked the rate was around $63 per ton.

Man I feel you there bud. I just went through the EXACT same thing. I had 2 boats that I was working on at the same time. One I was going to sell, and the other to keep. Finally got the one sold, and now the wife and I are enjoying the boat that I have put lots of time and money into. She too was at her breaking point. I spent every waking hour on the boats and neglected her and my household chores. I believe she was close to shipping out. I guess I learned the hard way. Now that it's done its a different story. She even helps me load it up. When we go on trips she packs lunches, towels, and all that jazz. She does the inside thing while I get the boat hitched, gassed, and loaded. I learned that I'd sink the damn boat and all the $$ that I put in it for her. But good on ya for making the right call. Guess I just got lucky to find a great fishing/drinking buddy. Lesson: Prioritize, prioritize. My family comes first. Funny how some of these guys are always talking this boat > wife stuff. I'll bet some of them have had monthly dry spells. And I'm not talking about not catching fish.....

I always looked at women the same as my boat, if it gives me too much trouble, I just go get another one. Life is too short to deal with rules and nagging. Its my money, my boat, my house and it'll stay that way till the day I die.
A dry spell would only be justification to go elsewhere in my book.
The way I see it is who is anyone to tell you what you can and can't own or do? I don't take that from my boss, I certainly won't take it at home. What it boils down to is compatibility, if something you like and do regularly is that much of a problem, maybe you just don't belong together. I learned after #1 that there's no way I'd ever try to change or adjust to make any relationship work. She either wants to be here or not.

I am donating the boat to the CAN Academy of Texas. Maybe someone can finisher her up. I personally am tired of all the grief and am also ready to make a change. However, she did go out and bought me a 2007 Four Winns. My wife is just the type that is very impatient and hates seeing projects taking along time. At least I will be out on the water.
