Where to locate transom strap with Trim tabs

I just picked up a bigger bowrider (248LS Monterey) and the PO did not have any transom tie downs. (kept boat in dry storage mostly).
The boat has trim tabs as stated in the title so I am a little nervous/apprehensive to the location the tie downs should connect with the trailer. The current attachment location on the trailer will not work due to the trim tabs.

Any ideas as to a good location to connect to?

Thanks!

Welcome to iboats. Can you have the straps angled more inboard to clear trim tabs and just weld a new ring to trailer. If you can take a picture that would really get the best answers... since we can't see what you are working with.

We have just used a 20 foot by 4 inch cargo strap over the stern to the trailer frame.

I am working on the pic.
I may be able to route aroung the tabs, but the current eyelet on the trailer seems it would require about a 3 or 4 ft strap..... Not the safest choice....

If the boat is over 3500 lbs, I've never used them. My boat never moves.

My last boat had the same issue. I ordered the longer straps, etc.

Cut a corner off coming out of the marina one afternoon. I heard a loud bang and saw the tie down filling off and into oncoming traffic in the rear view mirror. Got out to find out what happened and found the lower portion of the strap still fastened to the trailer. A clean cut on the strap. Gave up and went to a strap over the gunnel.

Have the same problem, just too busy back there for transom straps, swim platform, trim tabs, fish finder, etc. Ran the transom straps outboard and they're OK but, are tight on the swim platform supports. If the trailer will hold the boat from cocking port or starboard up/dn then go to a gunwale tie-down strap.

Thanks for the replies. Took the boat back to storage and forgot to take pictures....
I will look into the gunwale straps, but it is going to have to be a really long strap.

Most gunnel strap are 20-25 feet long. Long enough for ya?;)

This is how I did it. Had enough motor mount bolt sticking out to use a short piece of stainless strap, twisted and mounted with it's own nut.

My boat weighs 3200 lbs dry. My trailer weighs 720 lbs. The gunwale strap I use is to hold the trailer to the boat, not the boat to the trailer. If I go over an unexpected large bump, I don't want the boat bouncing up off the trailer and coming down in the wrong spot.

That will work to keep the boat from bouncing, but a futile effort if your goal is to keep the boat on the trailer in case of an accident.

Can you go under the outdrive
Right tie down to left side of trailer and vis versa
crossing the straps?
