Hi all. Been a while since I have been around. Last night spur of the moment i grabbed a boat motor trailer package for a few hundred bucks. Went out this morning to start cataloging.

6hp Seahorse and I cant find the plate which has the model and serial. I suspect this motor has been painted. I see hints of seafoam green in some areas.

Thank you in advance

The cowling appears to be a 1966 model.-----In 1967 they stated using green paint.-----Perhaps brackets from a newer model were installed.

This is adding up. I had located a factory stamp on the cylinder heads. The part no. routed me to 1966 Cylinder Head bolts through Ebay. Thanks Racerone Ill pull some part diag. for 66' and go down the rabbit hole

Head bolts you can find at your local hardware store.-------About 29 cents each.----Nothing special about that item.----Parts for these wonderful motors were the same year after year.----I am about 4 hrs north of you.----And ---evinrudeparts.ca----Is a good source for older used parts.

There is supposed to be a round disk on the powerhead with the serial number stamped on it. If the disk and data plate are both missing, the motor was probably stolen at some time in it's past. So you say it is painted a different color and you bought it cheap? Sound suspicious to anybody?

LOL! I sure hope not.

Yep the plug is there and stamped J2596712. The motor doesn't need anything as of now, it runs very well, I was just using part stamps for direction. Previous owner said he had it on some private lakes up in Cochrane, ON and had it for around 10 years. It wasn't really a cheap purchase, but definitely a value added package. I think the fella was tired of haggling with the tire kickers and just let it go to be done with it etc.

According to my private collection of serial numbers, that is a 1965 or 1966, which goes along with the color. Perhaps the underlying green that you are seeing is the zinc chromate primer. Sorry for the scare.
