On the package it says to mount so that it doesnt interfere with the prop. Is there an exact science as to figuring out where to mount this so it doesnt screw up the propellers propulsion? 70hp evinrude 13 1/4x17 prop if that matters...

Re: where to mount transducer

Are you certain you read the instructions correctly. If the transducer interferred with the prop that would mean the prop strikes the transducer and makes it into little bitty pieces. Those instructions probably read - install the transducer so the prop does not create turbulence that can affect the transducer. You mount the prop on the right side of the boat as far from the prop as you can, and not in line with any strakes, lines of rivets, or other obstructions on the bottom of the boat. Transducers cannot read through air bubbles so they need to run in relatively smooth water. Close to the prop is turbulent water which is what the instructions were getting at.

Re: where to mount transducer

i read it correctly, i just said "prop" to make it easier to type :) Since the strakes are level with the ground, i was going to mount it just above one of those, but if you say stay away from the strakes, i'll mount it next to them on the angles part (keeping the transducer level of course)
