I know I need to get a book its on order should be here tomorrow. What I am looking for is where should I start looking for the problem. Here is the issue. 2 weeks ago went to start the boat up in the driveway before I went out. No spark. Went inside to figure out how to trouble shoot. After a half hour went back out to check somethings out hit the key and it started right up. This past weekend started it up sat night because I was leaving early in the morning started up first turn of the key. Sunday morning at the ramp nothing no spark again. Fiddled with it for about an hour at the ramp couldn't get it going so I headed home. Got home messed around for another hour or so still wasn't getting any spark. Went back out in the afternoon hit the key and what do you know its running. I have no idea where to start on this. Kinda hard to troubleshoot something that is working at the present time.

Start by checking the wiring at the ignition key, and the kill switch. Sounds like a loose wire to me if you go from "nothing" to spark without doing anything. Could also be corrosion at the batter cables.
