Where would you find a serial number on a Gamefisher 7.5?

Looking to purchase this outboard and I want to know who made it first. Anything else I should check for that's Gamefisher specific?

You don't care about the serial number, you want the model number. Pop the shroud off that puppy, and look at the bottom surface of the engine compartment, starbord side, you'll see a sticker with a model number beginning with 217.XXXXXX. Make sure it has spark, and don't yank the strter with out the plug being grounded, it will fry a solid state ignition module, if that's what you have. That looks like a points motor, though. Get that 217. number, and plug it in here;

It'll be worth lookin' at the 'sploded views, and you can get part numbers. You will want to replace the pump impeller, too.

Thanks for the info. Found it, it's the Eska version. Owner is the original owner, still has the owner's manual. He said he's never changed the impeller or done anything to it, and that it's in excellent condition. Even the propeller is clean. Of course I'm concerned about lack of maintenance. He said it has low hours and he used it on a 12 foot skiff (which is also available, and I'm tempted). He's asking $300, but needs it gone by Friday as he's moving, so I'm sure I can negotiate.

Are the Eskas good to have? Any other thoughts?

I love mine, great motors and no problems and very low maintenance.

I'd be changing the impeller for sure - they get old and break up. If you have a solid state ignition, do not yank the starter without a grounded spark plug lead, it can kill your ignition module. Otherwise, it's the lightest 7.5 hp outboard I've ever seen.
