Any chance you can grab the serial number, and the stamp numbers on carb? 7826 REPAIR PARTS KIT is for carbs stamped (WH-32)(WH-35)(WH-38)
8506 REPAIR PARTS KIT, is for Carburetors stamped (WH-33) (WH-40) 18-7354 is just a sierra version of the merc 8506 It doesn't come with everything that the merc kit comes with.

Yeah for sure. Serial for motor is 0C185379.

But where would I find the carb stamp? There's a stamp on the middle carb that reads 34-20329

I found a WH but there's nothing behind it.

Side note: would it be ok to take some engine cleaner or maybe just carb cleaner to the outside of the motor to clean it up?

justa a little information... 99.9% of tha time all ya need is a 5/6 buck gasket kit for tha wh series as they are all tha same no mater what tha number is.. its rare for tha needle and seat to need replacing.. sometimes, but very seldom, a float might be bad but they are NLA anyway..... .jmo

mercury Mfg Part #: 1395-6452 (has needles and seats) Merc sold just gasket kits for years for 6 bucks but guess they figured that wasn't enough so they add a few parts and jacked tha prices up....
GLM-40420 (gaskets only)

they will need ta be taken apart, cleaned and NEW gaskets... no mater what or how good any of tha old gaskets look they need ta be replaced anytime tha carb is taken apart....

Thanks for the pets numbers!!!

like i was sayin'.. 99.9% of tha time and i've done it many, many times over tha years, mostly on my junk (merc V6 is only thing i do)... if ya wanna "wash" your motor you can do it with a power wash... disconnect tha battery.FIRST THING.... wash it down but do not re-connect tha battery till after ya let it set in tha sun for a coupla days and its COMPLETELY DRY......

don't forget ta make sure tha carbs are covered......

Weird. So all these years I think I was reading the serial number as 379 and it's actually 373. I'm thinking that doesn't make it a 175 either way but here's a couple photos. If that's a stock 175 sticker then how do you suppose that happened?

Although doing some digging on that Maxrules website looks like this serial falls under the 175 unless I'm looking at it wrong. Which is fully possible.

*Update on the motor. Pulled it out and hooked it up to the muffs yesterday. I bought some seafoam and Gumout spray. Took the airbox off and gave the carbs a quick spray with the gumout. It took a little while for her to turn over (always a cold starter no matter what. Especially after storage.) but she fired up and was running same old as she always has.

I took some of the seafoam and put it into a spray bottle and with the motor running sprayed some into the carbs and then revved it a bit. Not sure how much it did but I did notice a milkly dark water coming out of the prop exhaust.

Also sprayed a bit of the gumout into the carbs in the same way. When I revved it after that, it was black water coming out?? Do you suppose that's mostly exhaust chamber gunk getting flushed out by the cleaner.

I'll be the first to say that I know what I did above is no alternative to pulling the carbs and cleaning them. And I fully intend on doing that yet. But after a bit of this flushing with seafoam, it was running just fine. Took it down to the lake and did a hot lap and all was good. Although I feel like there's some bottom end sluggishness.

Thanks for the serial number help guys!

Did anyone have any comments on the second half of my #12 post? Kind of curious what the gunk might be coming from. Thanks!

TL;DR
Old post. New gaskets/needles/seats in cleaned rebuilt carbs. Check reeds? Need new fuel lines for carbs? Zip-ties or hose clamps on lines? Which plugs?

Sorry to revive an old post but I figured the guys that responded to this one would likely be responding anyway and then at least there's some context. Also added context. I've owned this boat since 2002 and I've never really touched anything in or on the motor except standard winterizing. Fog the motor and put some stabil in the tank. I've done carb rebuilds on lawn mowers and the such so I'm familiar with them to some extent but this is the first go around at something with more than a single barrel.

Update since this thread was last active. I purchased a gasket set that also came with needle and seats. Just finished up tearing down, cleaning and rebuilding the carbs last night. I was looking through the service manual and it mentioned checking the reeds. From what I can see, a guy would have to take the intake manifold off in order to service the reeds correct? I mean I can see them from the front and I think they look ok??

Also when I was pulling all the fuel lines and hoses off the carbs I was wondering if it's worth replacing all those pieces of hose or just reuse what's there? Or clean them maybe?? Most of them were also being held on by what looked like factory zip-ties. A few had metal hose clamps. Any opinion on which to use there?

Also looking for thoughts on spark plugs. I currently have the BU8H plugs in. Should I just replace with the same or is there a better brand/model I should run in them?

After I get the carbs back on and everything hooked back up, is there anything to watch out for before I start it back up for the first time? I'm concerned about the carbs maybe being out of sync? I've been very careful to put the throttle levers back in the same spot on the butterfly shaft

Is it possible to check to see if the fuel pump needs to be rebuilt? Or if i take it apart will I need to replace gaskets regardless? I don't think I have any symptoms of a bad fuel pump but just curious if maybe it would be a little gummed up too and would benefit from being gone through.

Sorry for the 20 questions but hopefully they're easy ones. TIA!
