The drive shaft turns clockwise and so does the impeller. A simple trick is to coat the inside of the pump housing with dish washing soap, you can coat the arms if the impeller too. This will allow the arms of the impeller to enter the housing easily and in the right direction .
With the impeller installed on the drive shaft, lower the pump housing down the drive shaft until it contacts the impeller. Press down on the housing and turn the drive shaft clockwise. The arms of the impeller should enter the housing in the right direction. When the housing is fully seated , install the housing bolts.
