Which drain plug goes where?

I took out both drain plugs in my 1978 150 Evinrude to drain old oil from lower unit. I have one magnetic plug and one without. Which plug is for top hole?

non magnetic plug goes in top hole.

Correct. The metal (if there is any) will settle to the bottom and the magnet will keep them there. But if you have metal on the magnet when you remove it you have problems and need to find out why.
