Which engine-side fuel fitting for a 1989 Mariner 25hp 0Cxxxxx serial

I bought an Atwood fuel hose fitting advertised for "Mercury/Mariner" today at the local Runnings store, and it's not right.

While it looks rught and fits in place, the catch doesn't engage in the slot on the positioning peg, so there's nothing to retain the hose fitting in place. Returned.

There must be some earlier (or different) design for my 1989 Mariner 25hp.

Can anyone tell me what part that is?

I'm referring to the engine end of the hose. My motor's serial# starts with 0C.

Thanks,
Steve

yes, Mercury fuel hose has a different fitting on the tank end, vs. the engine end. About 1/8" difference.

Thanks Roscoe. Hmmm, must be yet another type. Actually my tank has a completely different Quicksilver OEM fitting -- long cylindrical/conical type with tabs that twists into place on the tank end. I already have that one.

After doing some research, I've figured out that the engine end of my 1989 Mariner 25 fuel hose should have what is available locally at Runnings labeled by Atwood's as "Yamaha/Force/Mercury" type. I was able to trade Atwood's "Mercury/Mariner" labeled one back, and the new "Yamaha" type fit perfectly.

More detailed and accurate labeling would have helped avoid two 15 mile trips........oh well, .....done!

For Mariner owners who may encounter the same problem with Atwood fittings.....

The correct Atwood fitting is simply labeled "Yamaha/Force/Mercury."

NOT the Atwood fitting labeled "Mercury/Mariner."

(Neither package specifies "tank" or "engine".)
