Which Fishfinder Eagle or Lowrance

I have narrowed my selection down to the Eagle Fishmark 480 or the Lowrance 96. I like the 480x480 screen on the Fishmark compared to the 320x320 on the Lowrance, but have read a few bad owner reviews on the Eagle at various online retail sites. No bad reviews for the Lowrance. The price is the same on both units. Wondering if anyone out there has any experience with either unit. Any input gratefully accepted.

Eagle is made by Lowrance. Usually a few less bells and whistles at a lower price.

The technology is the same.

I've got a seafinder 480df I went with it for the same reason 480x480 haven't had a problem with it. reads beautifully, as JB said there virtually the same.

Both units have 187 watts RMS and 5 inches screens. The Fishmark 480 has better resolution instead of 320. So I think the Fishmark 480 is better.

187 watts RMS is not a lot of power but if you are not fishing Saltwater over 100 feet should be ok.

Thanks to all who responded, ordered the Fishmark 480 today. The lakes I fish range from 3 to 40 feet so depth is not an issue. I guess the older you get the more you procastinate over every little thing before you buy. If it works half as well as my last two eagles I will be happy. Playing with the simulator now, so should have a little knowledge of it operations buy the time it arrives. Thanks again for your input.
