I want to mount a troller in the bow of my Boston Whaler Outrage 18 when I am musky-walleye-bass fishing big fresh water.

On my Montauk I have a MinnKota Auto Pilot AP55. I really like the AP feature, you point it and set it and go back to fishing, but raising and deploying the motor is difficult around the bow rail. The Outrage also has a bow rail, and it doesn't have a forward seat (yet).

The Guide that we sometimes fish with on Lake Of The Woods has a Pinpoint system on his boat, that can automatically follow depth contours or shoreline, but it is even more difficult to raise and lower than the AP Minn Kota. It sure can follow structure and fill the boat with walleye.

I will be mounting an Interphase Sea Scout sonar on the boat. It scans horizontally as well as down. I am afraid that another sonar system operating at the same time (Pinpoint) would interfere.

The bottom line: Do I put a Minn Kota Genesis (power deploy and store) with Auto Pilot on the boat, or do I put a Pinpoint system on it and only operate one sonar system at a time?

Some of you boaters have used one or the other of these, or have researched them without buying. What do you think??

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)
