I am getting ready to do some ignition system test, and am not sure which system I have in order get the proper readings. My motor is a 1987 Mercury Classic Fifty 45 HP - serial number OB161091. Can anyone tell me which ignition I have by the year/serial? My options are:

? Type I Ignition System - Kiekhaefer Distributor Magneto (with Points)
? Type II Ignition System - Thunderbolt Lightening Energizer Distributor (pointless), Aka Alternator Driver Ignition (adi)
? Type III Ignition System Thunderbolt Cd Distributor (pointless)
? Type IV Ignition System - Thunderbolt Flywheel Cd (pointless)
? Type V Ignition System - Thunderbolt Flywheel Cd (one Coil Per Cylinder)

thanks so much for any help you can give

after reading through my own post again, i think this is a no-brainer. i have 4 coils - one for each cylinder. i am assuming that i have the Type V Ignition System. is this correct, or am i just a moron? thanks, ac.
