Which impeller should I order for my Volvo Penta?

I have a Volvo Penta AQ290A and it needs the Jabsco rubber impeller replaced. I have searched everywhere to get a definitive answer on a part number. There are so many to choose from. Anyone know what I should get or where to look?

FYI, your engine is where the impeller is. Your engine is an AQ271C. Your outdrive is a 290A. By refering to the drive you could get incorrect info. The AQ290A engine calls for a different impeller.

Thanks for the link. Now we have two part numbers according to Jabsco. One has 12-blades #22120-0001 and the new part number is #18777-0001 but it has 10-blades. Which should I get? Is the 10-blade preferred for some reason?

You get the one for whatever pump you have. One of those impellers is thicker than the other. Only you know what you have, and being as old as it is, it may have been replaced. That is when you have to replace your impeller with what type pump you have.

Wrong. One is not thicker. Both are the same length, diameter and same 5/8" bronze splined shaft. The only difference is the amount of blades. One is 10 and the discontinued 12 blade which you can still find online at most places. So again, what are the pro's and con's between the two?

Ayuh,... If that's the case,... Use the 10 blade,..The 12 blade is Discontinued...

Well I spoke with Jabsco and their Tech Rep said 12-blade equals more flow. So I ordered the 12-blade.
