Re: Which kneeboard for me and my kids??HELP
You should be abel to pick up something new for around 100 - 125 ish just watch for sales. I would stay away from the foam boards they are junk. If teaching little ones for the first time look into one that has the aqua hook it makes getting up much easier, but kids can usually manage even if there isn't the hook I taught my five year old on one that didn't have the hook and he was doing deep water starts on his own. Also look for one with the padded strap most are that way now but not all. A used one would also be fine, I still have two hydroslide pros that are about 30 years old and always take a rip on them while at the lake. The padding is minimal as is the strap but I can really shred on them. Not that your looking to spend that kind of dough anyway but I would stay away from the real performance minded ones, they are much thinner profile and much less bouyant for learning on. If it is something you really enjoy then maybe step up to a joker or something like that but they are $350.00+ mine was. The performance is second to none though. Any of the hydroslide, obrien, connley, middle of the roaders would be perfect to get started on and can be had pretty reasonable. I have even seen them at sporting good stores on sale quite cheap. Lastly stay away from one that has a V shaped tail as they are much harder to 360 on and that is part of the fun. Same with the retractable fins they are kind of nice when cutting real hard or for tracking straight but they usually break (the cable that controls them) and if they are stuck down you can't 360 or side slide at all. Good luck I have been into kneeboards for over thirty years and still have a blast on them. Once you get good try standing up on one while your going its quite challanging.
