which one do I have???

I have recently acquired what I believed to be an 18' 1981 Cobia Sportster with a Mercruiser 120. I have been doing some research as the boat needs some motor and outdrive repair but the info I have found suggests that this may be a 1982 or newer. The research shows no sportser from '81 with an I/O set-up---all outboards. does anyone know enough about these boats to tell which is which? If so, I have some questions about motor and outdrive repair/replacments.

What is the hull identification number? That will give you some info on the boat.
