Which one should I Buy?

I have a chance to buy a 1990, 15 hp Evinrude or a 1994, 15hp Mercury Outboard motor. The Mercury is $200 more than the Evinrude, but newer. Which is the better deal? Is one brand better/more reliable than the other?

In my mind the Evinrude is hands down a better motor. But what do I know, I'm an old OMC die hard. The Merc fans out there may have a different opinion.

Seriously... I'm not too familiar with mid 90s Mercs, so I'm not sure if they are good, bad or otherwise. I am familiar with the Evinrude. That style of 15hp was in production for the better part of 30 years. Parts are out there and marinas know how to fix them. I think anyone who has been around these motors knows that they are good performing solid small outboards.

Agree. Go with Evinrude/Johnson. I have owned both and Merc. sucks. Just my experience and opinion.
