I have a 1991 482v with a johnson gt150. The prop on it is a 14 1\4 x 24 Turbo. Real slow hole shot, wot is 5400rpm at 55mph. I do have a jack plate also. Do I need to adjust the motor height? WOT I have about 23lbs of water pressure. Thanks

Howdy, JWS.

You have a correct prop.

Fine tuning your rig and your hull might get you another 1 or 2mph, but you are going plenty fast for that boat.

Good luck. :)

How low is it sitting? If your holeshot is too slow either raise the engine or decrease your pitch. I would think to could open up a few more rpms in that thing and I would think you could get a few more miles of speed. My performance site of choice is www.screamandfly.com, lots of pros over there that could get you set and running the way you hope to.

Sounds from your post like your looking for some more hole shot.Im no expert but it seems the boat is running as it should for the set up.
Get as much weight out of the back af the boat as
possible. You could lower the pitch an inch or so but it will hurt your top speed and you will have to be careful of your max rpm.
You could raise the motor a little at a time but watch for cavitation.Go to
www.land-and-sea.com for a very interesting and expensive prop.

Sounds to me as if you have a lot more testing to do, leave the weight in the rear unless she is porpoising. your RPM seems way to low. Read some posts by Dhadley. Good Luck

Raise the jack plate to get more top RPM's. You have a lot of room for more. Watch your water presure. As your top RPM's increase, so will your top speed and your holeshot should be better too. Is your 24 Turbo a 3 or 4 blade (I'm guessing 3, hoping for 4)? Has it ever been rebuilt?

Good luck!
