Re: Which Prop??

You folks with Yamahas and prop questions really need to get familiar with Yamaha's web site. They have a section called PERFORMANCE BULLETINS. Visit it. You can select your engine, select your boat, then view test reports on that combination. Guess what! They show the prop that was used for the test and in every example, they select the right prop to put the engine at or very near the top of the recommended RPM band. If they have not tested your exact boat, pick one that is closest to what you have. It doesn't get any bettery than that. The site also lists fuel consumption, speed, rpm, noise (in some cases).

Re: Which Prop??

The reports are helpful but keep in mind that the pitch progression on Yamaha props is calculated a bit differently and we often find that the reports can be on the optomistic side. It can be slightly confusing when trying to cross from a Yamaha prop to other brands.

But it sure eliminates guesswork if you don't have the moxy to deal with prop selection. Most folks will be happy to just get close to correct. Those who are after the last little bit of performance can still use the info to their advantage or at least as a base line for some more detailed analysis.
