which setting on tachometer?

Hi Everybody,

i got a 50 hp 1985 Johnson outboard.
I don't know which setting i have to chose on my tachometer.
The numbers on the back of the tachometer are the pulses per revolution i think.
I hope anyone can tell me how much pulses my engine does.

In case it has a 6C and 6P, you want the 6P.

Isn't it 5P on that one? All 2 cylinders with rectifiers were 5P. Here's a good way to check:

10 poles = 5 pulses per revolution
12 poles = 6 pulses per revolution
