89' Bayliner 2050 Arriva with the 5.0 liter which will be built to about 250HP. I'm looking to add some smart tabs, but unsure which ones to go with. It almost looks like the ST1290-80 are border line small for the HP but the next ones up being ST 1610-120 might be too much for the hull. Does anyone have any input on these tabs with a similar hull? The only other factor might be the added weight in the engine bay on my boat. We are installing a stereo system in the engine bay that will weigh in about 300#.

Don't even think about the 120's, the 80's will be fine.

Now i also see there is composite and stainless steel. Do both serve their purpose well, or is one better then the other? Composite is about $60-$70 or better yet, 3/4 tank of gas less!

Re: which smart tabs to go with?

I just installed the tabs with 80lb struts on my Q6 Tahoe. It's 20' 6" in length. I'm not sure of the weight of the boat alone, but on the trailer the rig weighs 4,100 lbs. I have the V6 engine 190hp. The 80's are too much. I'm going to change out for the 60's.
