Use ST1290-60 if you have the room for a 12" wide plate. How fast is this boat? How wide? How much does it weigh?

Re: Which Smart tab's

Nautijohn, I have room for the plate, the boat will run around 40-42 in perfect situation. It is a 80's model sea rayder bass boat, not real wide somewhat deep and I don't know what it weighs. My problem is porpoise when it trims out. It used to have a fin which made the boat stable but I still had no trim and the boat was bogged down( only 36mph.) I took off the fin and got the speed up but lost the stability, and still no trim.

Because you lost speed with the foil, and the porposing issue, It sounds to me that your engine may be mounted too low on the transome. Where is the cavitation plate in relation to the bottom?

lubedude, thanks for the reply. I just went and raised it after your reply. It is now about 1 inch above the bottom of boat. I thought it was too low anyway and have been meaning to move it. Should I run it with or without the foil?

rjolley;

If you use Smart Tabs DO NOT use any other planing devise. First it will not be necessary, and second the boat will run bow down once on plane, and the trim will not bring it up.

Re: Which Smart tab's

nautijohn, I came across a set of used tabs, 1290-80's. Can I purchase just the 60lb actuators? And is this the only difference between the two models?

Thanks John, I'll order them, I am trying to stay away from the fin if at all possible.
