Well thanks to Kenny aka Walleyehead Ive figured out which pitch prop and I know for sure I want to go stainless, but which one I was told to shy away from MW Rapture because of the cup, I have 90 horse johnson that needs to get the RPMs up so Im going down to a 15 pitch, that is why I told not to get the Rapture, but there seems like a lot of choices, I would like to stay under $300. Thanks in Advance.

Re: Which Stainless Steel Prop

Sure, I talked to the guys who own one of the largest lund dealers in the NW (Townsend Marine) and was told that the rapture because of the cupping would take as much energy to turn as the 17 pitch prop would so I wouldnt be gaining anything as far as RPMs go. As you know I dont know a darn thing so I know these guys work on hundreds of boats a year, and are big time sponsors on the walley tourney trail. But I still believe in theories and I know everybody has a different one, so I am all ears.

Any chance you can run next to one of their "sponsored" rigs now and then again later?

Largest doesn't make them the best at set-up...
If they think a Rapture is "highly cupped", I won't be going there for any prop advice...
Here's my thoughts...based on what we had discussed earlier, I think you would like a Stiletto Advantage 1 P/N 21315.
One item we may have to consider is raising the engine 1 hole or 2 and test..usually 1 at a time then test. The Stiletto can be found for around 270.00. The Rapture is a good, all-around prop, but very little "tweaking" can be done before it vents, in my experience.
Dhadley's comment above is basically telling you we can run beside'em, or, we can set you up so all they see is the back of your boat as it goes out of sight ahead of them....
I'm running only 800ft less elevation than you, so there may be some other items we need to look at before you buy a prop..

It wasnt meant to be funny. I'd love to see you make sure those "factory" guys know how much you've improved your rig. They might know a ton about fishing but their set up skills could use some attention.

Changing a prop to gain rpm is a last resort only. And only when everything else, set up-wise, has not produced the wanted results.

I can't count how many times we've worked with someone who has, for instance, a 17" prop and needs rpm. Instead of throwing money at it and buying a smaller prop, we work with the set up and end up with a bigger prop and more rpm.

Which way do you think the rig is more efficient?

Thats why I hang out here, thanks you guys. First I am going to lean up the Jets. I think I need a little safety rooms so I will probably just go two sizes like I said the lowest I will probably ever take this boat is around 3000 feet. Kenny I will probably have to put the motor on a hoist Im assuming to lift it. I hate to be a complete idiot but when you refer to raising it one or two holes can you clarify. Are we talking one inch? Thanks again you guys, I really like tweaking stuff like this, I used to race alot of snowmachines so I guess that is where I cut my teeth on getting the performance bug.

On these engines with 1/2" bolts, all holes are 3/4" center to center. Each hole will be 3/4" higher..
You can block the skeg and jack the trailor to get the engine up a hole...reseal bolts and test.
Just loosen the bottom 2 and it will slide unless it has the off-set bracket with holes at the bottom insted of a slot. shouldn't be any problem.
Just so Dhadley knows all of the details, this 90 is only turning up to 5050 at WOT....He is also at 4800ft.

Sounds good. When you guys get the set up squared away I'll bet he'll be looking for a 18 Lightning Jr.
