which stern drive?

how do you know which outdrive you have, like alfa1 or2 etc. boat is a 1978 mercruiser 165. thanks ken

If it's original, it's a Mod.1, or Pre-alpha....

Does it have an "Eye" at the Top,..??..??

if you mean like a little triangle shape tap on top with a 1/2 hole then yes. i believe it to be original. i bought it from guy that bought it new. let me know if that is what you mean. thanks a bunch ken

thanks bond-o. are parts/gaskets going to be hard to find? seems like everything on ebay is for alfa1 etc or are some parts/gaskets interghankable? thanks ken. ps this is one hell of a site. ive learned more in a few days here than i ever could have amagined. 2 days ago i was kicking myself for buying this boat but now im ready to take it on. thanks all

Of course Mercruiser will Gladly sell you most Any parts for them,....
And,...
At the top of this page are the Merc Parts links from iboats,...
They sell the Seirra brand,...
Btw,...
iboats part #s can be bought at your local Napa as well....
