Which SX Drive do I Have?

It is starting to look like I am going to have to replace my outdrive. My boat has a 5.7 Volvo Penta engine (Carb) and an SX outdrive.

I have been doing some research online and it seems that there are several different versions of outdrives in the Volvo Penta SX family, For example, there is an SX-A, an SX-C etc and I have also noticed that there are multiple gear ratios as well.

I do plan on taking the boat out of the water in the next two weeks to investigate more and verify the issue but I was hoping to get some more research done between now and then.

Does anyone have a way for me to determine exactly which SX drive I have?

Thanks

Frank

Do you have a data plate or sticker on your air intake cover?
If your replacing i would invest in a douprop 1.95

Year? Any stickers or info on the motor? Books?
On the front bottom might be an ID plate.
Look real good.
If you can't find any info? Contact the manufacturer they have record on what was put in and all the stuff you need.

There will be a plate on your outdrive that will say a serial number and the model number. In the case of my 18ft 4in Reinell it states SX-C1.

I have an SX Cobra which I assume is the transitionary period from OMC to Penta. Is it physically the same as the SX series, just has a different sticker on it? Its on a 1998 wellcraft.
