Also please tell me which service book I need

Seloc and Clymer both make manuals that will get you through the basics and maintenence. A Factory Manual is nice, but expensive...

I have a Clymer and a Merc Manual - found both on ebay. I let a few pricier ones go by, but finally got them at the prices I wanted to pay.

While I was waiting, I checked out a Clymer at the local library.
