Whining feedback through speakers when blower is running...

Recently added an amp to my stereo system and am getting a whining sound when the blower is running..weird thing is the amp and blower run off different batteries, and there is no noise with just the engine running (alternator whine)...blower is hooked up to the factory wiring harness and the amp is direct to my second battery...I've read a little about noise isolators...just wondering if I put one on the blowers power line and the amp power line, or just the amp....anything else I could do? When the speakers are powered by the head unit there is no whine, the head unit is powered direct to the same battery the amp is on...that's what has me a bit confused, unless head units have noise isolators built in.

Any 'marine grade' isolators you can recommend?

All the electronics share a common ground, unless you have that isolated. The amp by design amplifies what it hears, noise too. Some amps and head units have a better signal path that cuts down on injected noise like electric motor whine.

Here is a link to a good article:

Hope it helps.

Don't run your amp with the blower running...problem solved! :)

Agree with the above poster. Make sure you have a dedicated ground for your sound system. That includes the head unit as well as the amp. If you disconnect the inputs to the amp from the head unit do you still get the whine? That will help you isolate the source a little better.

I may have been trying to be funny with my first statement but actually, if its going to mean a lot of rewiring and its only the blower, I could live without having my stereo on when the blower is running.
